HC Kothari Educational Trust
The HC Kothari Educational Trust (HCKET) was established with a purpose of imparting high quality technical education to rural children at affordable costs, to improve the technical skill of rural people, which would ultimately result in their economic and financial health.
 
The Trust has embarking on various initiatives including primary education by adopting existing schools to improve the standard of education, patronising Balwadis for bringing in more children in remote rural areas into primary and higher education including technical education. By providing education right from the primary level up to technical level, the following main social objectives are being achieved:
 
  • To bring out hidden talent in rural children
  • To provide social and economic security to farming community
  • To prevent the movement of rural families to urban cities for education of children.
 
Since 1973, the HCK group has been running a primary school in the premises of its Sugar unit at Kattur. As part of continuous improvement, efforts are underway to upgrade the school and offer high quality higher education to the students to face global competition with determination and courage.
Austria consulate
Ms. Nina B Kothari has been the honorary consul for Austria. The Consulate office functions from Kothari Buildings, Nungambakkam, Chennai. Major activities of the office include scrutiny of passport applications of Austrian nationals and visa applications to Austria. These are then forwarded to the Austrian Embassy, New Delhi for further processing. The Consul is also entitled to attest signatures of individuals. Officials from the embassy are hosted by the consul when they are in Chennai. The Austrian National Day is celebrated around October 26th every year.
